ABOUT THE TEST
The origin of migraine can have different factors involved, among them, the food associated with a deficiency of the diamine oxidase enzyme (DAO). This enzyme is especially responsible for metabolizing histamine, molecule present in a large number of foods and that can also be produced endogenously in our body, mainly, by intestinal bacteria.
Nevertheless, people with reduced DAO activity (CAD deficit) are prone to accumulate excess histamine in the blood, increasing the probability of presenting different symptoms, among which migraine or headaches stand out, in addition to nonspecific gastrointestinal symptoms (diarrhea, constipation, flatulence, abdominal pain,..) and others such as rhinitis or dermatological symptoms. These adverse effects are known as histamine intolerance..
MIGRATETEST (DAO activity test) evaluates the activity level of the DAO enzyme. This analysis allows to detect a reduced or very reduced enzyme activity.
IS IT RIGHT FOR ME?
This test is especially indicated in people who suffer from migraines or headaches of unknown origin., and with some of the following conditions:
- Gastrointestinal disorders like constipation, diarrhea, flatulence or abdominal bloating
- Dermatological disorders like dry skin, atopy or psoriasis
- Musculoskeletal disorders such as osteopathic or muscle pain, usually associated with fibromyalgia
- Cyclic Vomiting Syndrome
- chronic fatigue
- Con recurrent infections and/or with immunodeficiency
Additionally, is aimed at people who:
-
They have undergone a DAO genetic test and want to complement it with the analysis of its enzymatic activity in serum
-
have family history of DAO deficiency (or related pathologies e.g.. migraines)
PRELIMINARY CONSIDERATIONS
- It is necessary to go to a SYNLAB center to take the test
- To take the sample it is necessary to go to the center fasting 8 minimum hours
WHAT IS THE PROCEDURE?
The test requires a blood sample so you need to go to a SYNLAB center to take the test so follow the following steps!
